Soroptimist International of Tuscaloosa’s annual Brunch for Boobs, now the Soroptimist Women’s Brunch, is getting a makeover. The event is set for Saturday, March 3.

“We are excited to freshen up our signature event this year by changing locations to the beautiful Embassy Suites in downtown Tuscaloosa, said SI Tuscaloosa member Skye Kent.

Kent said in addition to changing location, the event’s format will change a little too.

“We will have a more streamlined fashion segment, and our guest speaker, comedienne and breast cancer survivor Carla The Truth Youngblood, will entertain with her empowering comedy and outlook on life.”

One thing that will not be changing at the event is the famous “Packed Purse” raffle.

“We can’t wait to show you the purses and prizes this year,” Kent said

Raffle tickets, and tickets for the Soroptimist Women’s Brunch, are available for purchase on the Soroptimist International of Tuscaloosa website (situscaloosa.com). Raffle tickets will also be available at the event.

SI Tuscaloosa is also raising funds from its “Bra Buddy” ticket sales. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of mastectomy bras for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, as well as helping to support the organization’s ongoing projects – including the Phoenix House and Priority Veterans. For a $25 donation, donors will be entered to win a condominium stay at the beach.

Soroptimist International of Tuscaloosa members are excited about the new direction of the Soroptimist Women’s Brunch.

“We want to empower women to be the best they can be… and to help other women be their best,” Kent said. “Through this event (and our club) we hope to be the spark that encourages women to be their best.”
